CHALLENGE

The challenge is to deliver personalized wellness recommendations to users, fostering their trust and empowering them to take control of their own well-being while alleviating the workload on Community Health Workers (CHWs).

SOLUTION

Empowering users with personalized wellness goals generated based on questionnaire responses, fostering self-management and reducing CHW workload. Users can track, expand, and set reminders for their goals easily through a user-friendly interface.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

  • Could incorporating a wider variety of data sources, such as wearable health devices, enhance the personalization of recommendations?

  • What does the intake process look like to generate information that will be used to drive the AI’s decision-making? Is it the CHW inputting information into their side of the app?

  • Currently, wellness goals are set manually by CHWs and clients - so, does CHW engage doctors/nurses in this process or are they trained with the necessary knowledge? How CHW set wellness goals for patients?

  • How can the app personalize the wellness journey for users with chronic conditions differently from those with preventative health goals?

  • If the AI model makes a recommendation that is irrelevant to the patient’s needs, are there any contingency or alternative solutions in place?

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • End-to-end product design: Led the full UX cycle, from market and user research to interactive prototyping under a tight timeline of 12 weeks.

  • Client-driven collaboration: Gained firsthand experience partnering with a real client, aligning deliverables to evolving business goals.

  • AI integration: Translated a high-level “AI capability” into concrete features by building personalized recommendation logic and a 24/7 AI chat assistant.

  • Business-to-UX translation: Learned how to dissect and analyze a business capability, validate it through research, and transform it into a smooth user experience.

  • Iterative improvement: Strengthened my ability to embrace constructive criticism and rapidly integrate the feedback received into successive design iterations.
